Welcome
Dear Intermountain Conference Participant,
We are excited for this year's Intermountain Conference on Gifted Education. This is our 31st conference and, this year, will feature a continuation of our new format and location. The conference will be held this year from June 8 through 10 at the new Edith Bowen Laboratory School on the Utah State University campus. The conference will begin each day, based on your feedback from conference evaluations, at 8:30 a.m. but will go until 4:00 p.m. While this will likely leave you tired at the end of a long day, we feel the three-day format will take less time out of your summer and increase the likelihood that you'll stay with us for the full three days. We'll try to have snacks available throughout the day, plus you'll notice that lunch is now included.
This year's theme is "Differentiation in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics.." Our speaker is Rachel R. McAnallen, known nation-wide as Ms. Math. She has been a math teacher, an administrator and a department chairwoman in nearly 50 years in education. She has been a highly rated presenter at Confratute in Connecticut and Edufest in Idaho.
The conference will again feature on opportunity to attend two three-day strands, on in the morning and one in the afternoon. These strands will mostly feature the STEM initiatives, but other important topics to educators who work with gifted children will also be offered. Monday will be devoted primarily to content for differentiated STEM; Tuesday will be devoted to instruction for differentiated STEM, and Wednesday will be devoted to assessment for differentiated STEM. This year, pre-registration for the strands is not required.
As always we will have excellent break-out sessions presented by local educators. If you have a great idea to share, you're invited to submit a proposal, which may be done electronically at this website.
Information on registration is also available here. We look forward to receiving your registration and meeting with you this summer. Sincerely,
Sincerely,

Scott L. Hunsaker
